Character Basics: Name: Haruno Sakura. Gender: Female. Sexuality: Heterosexual. Age: 15 going on 16. Birthday: March 28. Blood Type: O Rank: Chuunin. Hometown: Village Hidden in the Leaves (Konohagakure)/Exact location unknown.
Social: Friends/Acquaintances: All the young shinobi from Konoha and Suna's Temari, Gaara, and Kankuro. Enemies: Anyone affiliated with Orochimaru and the Akatsuki. Crush: Uchiha Sasuke ... Uzumaki Naruto ... None that she will really admit to, at the moment.
Appearance: Hair: Chin-length and bright pink. Eyes: Emerald green. Marks/Defining features: Her large forehead; many scars here and there on her body from missions. Style: Very comfortable yet feminine, and always donning her family's crest (a simple O circle on her back). Her clothes must not be too heavily layered or they will get in the way when she is on missions. She also keeps on her Konoha headband as much as she can.
Personality: Sakura is mostly known for her bossy and sometimes bitchy behavior, especially when around Naruto. She doesn’t like to come off as too soft because it reminds her of her younger years and how good-for-nothing she had been as a ninja. Her bad side comes out very easily if provoked by the wrong people, and those daring enough to push the wrong buttons usually end up meeting her incredible, bone-crushing strength. Despite that anger and sarcasm she usually puts on, Sakura can be very calm and sweet when need be. Friends are important to her and she tries to make them with as many people as she can. She’s mostly an introverted person because deep down inside, that scared little girl is still crawling around, desperately trying to find her true inner peace in a way that will make her fully happy. Sasuke is a very important and crucial part of her life, so being without him has made her easily vulnerable and sad. Mentioning him is never a good idea because she immediately grows wary of how much she misses him.
Her bond with Naruto has grown stronger within the past couple of years and she has become far more serious with him, even though she still likes to pick on him every now and then, as friends. She knows he has a crush on her and has had one ever since childhood, but she doesn’t make that fact noticeable. Ever since his return to Konoha, she has become more aware of his stronger side and (unwillingly) developed more emotionally attached opinions on the person he has become. Sakura is scared to admit to any romantic feelings at all, even to herself. First of all, it would make her seem like a huge hypocrite after barely being able to respect him before. She is also scared of getting her heart broken; it’s one of her biggest fears. After what happened with Sasuke, Sakura has closed off any paths leading to her vulnerable side because she is very much afraid of allowing herself to succumb to “love.” That is why she will never admit to a single feeling other than admiration for Naruto, and even then it takes a lot out of her to say.
History: Sakura was born in a very normal household without much trouble or angst surrounding her childhood. Her family was always kind, gentle, and basically… normal. That was a big reason as to why she didn’t grow up with sadness or sorrow of any kind in her heart and was often the outcast of her future team when the others saw her as weak. Being an only child also spoiled her, slightly, because she was always the center of attention when it came to specific needs from her parents. Despite the fact that her family did not come from generations of proud shinobi, Sakura decided to enroll in the Academy of Konoha village at a very young age anyway. Her mother was worried about the decision at first, but Sakura’s determination and non-stop pleading won her case.
In the Academy she met and befriended Ino Yamanaka, a girl of her age, who taught Sakura that it was okay to be different. Sakura was often teased by the other children because of her unusually large forehead, so much so that it became Sakura’s most hated part of her body. She would run home crying and avoid other students out of fear that she would not be able to escape from their cruel remarks. Ino was the first classmate of Sakura’s who didn’t care about how she looked and accepted Sakura for who she was. With Ino’s great friendship, Sakura became more confident and developed her own identity, able to blend in with the other kids and not feel self conscious. As her confidence grew, so did her sudden interest in boys and thus she developed her very first crush on Sasuke Uchiha: the most popular kid in school who practically every girl liked. Eventually, Ino admitted that she liked him as well which was when they both decided that from that point on, they could only be rivals, not friends. What an awful decision.
When Sakura passed her Genin exams at school, she was placed into her very first shinobi team along with the boy she loved, Sasuke, and the boy she hated more than anyone else: Naruto Uzumaki. With their Jounin sensei, Kakashi, the team went on various missions and developed bonds between all of them. It was evident early on that the two boys surpassed Sakura of all physical strength and ability which often left Sakura hanging in the background, not being much help at all. She hated being weak, having to sit back and watch her team suffer without her, having to cry over every hit they took and every fight they lost. She felt so helpless and useless to the point where her teammates began to get annoyed by her lack of anything other than brains. When the Chuunin exams came along, she knew she had to do something to prove she wasn’t just some scared little girl. Sasuke was her other great motivation. She was always ready and willing to impress him in any way she could, even though he was barely ever conscious of her rare achievements. During the exam, there came a point when Naruto and Sasuke were not able to go on and Sakura was the one who had to be their pillar of support. She finally proved herself worthy during that test when she had no one but herself to count on, escaping from the Sound ninja who had captured her and a few others who had attempted to come to her aid. Although it may sound superficial in some ways, Sakura decided to look past her beauty on the outside and chopped off her precious, long hair she had been growing just to gain Sasuke’s adoration, the only possible way she could have escaped, and saved her friends.
From that day on, she vowed never to be as pathetic as she once was… ever again.
She never grew her hair back as a symbol of change, of her “blossoming” so to speak. As the months wore on and Sasuke eventually betrayed the village by joining the most feared shinobi of all time – Orochimaru – Sakura yet again became dependant on others to do the dirty work, as Naruto and four other shinobi boys of Konoha went on to get Sasuke. Doing so was unintentional because she wasn’t allowed to join them, though she felt guilty nevertheless for not being able to help. When the mission was unsuccessful, Sakura decided to begin training with the Konoha Hokage, Tsunade, in the art of healing. While Naruto went off to train with Jiraiya, another well known shinobi, Sakura spent two and a half grueling years under the supervision of Tsunade, working hard to learn the secrets of her master’s famous strength. It was very hard work and took much time and stress to fully complete the training, but Sakura was determined more than ever before to push the pain to the back of her mind and suck it up.
When Naruto returned from his own training, Sakura was a changed girl. She wasn’t a useless “nobody” anymore. She was stronger than any man or woman in the entire village (not including Tsunade, of course!) and had gained an amazing amount of confidence in herself that had never been there before. She had turned from a squealing, annoying little girl, into a beautiful, headstrong young woman.
She reunited with Naruto and Kakashi-sensei on a very important mission to save the Kazekage of the Sand village. During that mission, Sakura showed off how much her training had paid off many times by saving the Kazekage’s brother’s life, and even defeating an Akatsuki member, Sasori, with the help of one of the Sand village elders. Once that mission was successfully completed, she joined Naruto once again to carry out the never forgotten mission to get Sasuke back along with a new member: Sai. He was difficult to understand at first, and though Sakura tried to become more familiar with him, she couldn’t hold back whenever he insulted Sasuke so boldly. Eventually, Sai opened up and the three of them became friends despite his blunt behavior and insulting nicknames. Sakura held in her anger as much as she could, only because she knew he meant no harm by any of it.
She was then assigned to a large group of Konoha ninja chasing after Sasuke and the Akatsuki. The group ran into Uchiha Itachi and Tobi, where they learned that Sasuke finally killed his brother. Without being able to catch up to Sasuke on time, the group returned home on their failed mission.
 fun tiemz with Sakura.
